A Few Ways To Meditate

Meditation allows me to get quiet, connect to my higher power and align with myself. As a result, my intuition becomes clearer, abundance flows to me, I am creative, calm, clear and confident in my life and decisions. I find that I can open to life’s gifts, that miracles and blessings flow my way when i can start my day with meditation.

There are endless ways to meditate, but I have a few favorites. Something different resonates for everyone, and certain things resonate more with me on certain days. I switch up my meditations based on my mood, what I need to clear to start my day, and the time I have available.

Here are a few ways I meditate:

  • Sitting Meditation: I sit quietly in my favorite chair for 11 minutes. I put my phone on airplane mode and set a timer so I can relax and be present. I start with 3 deep breaths to align myself, and then focus on my breath and watch my thoughts come in and out.
  • Active Meditation:
    • Kundalini Breath Work and Chanting: For this shorter, more active meditation, I sit on a cushion or pillow on the floor in front of my altar for about 3 to 5 minutes. These energize me and help me clear my head. I follow Kia Miller on YogaGlo. She has some great kundalini meditations.
    • Pranayama Breath Work: If I have more time, I’ll do this for as long as 20 minutes. If I need a shorter morning meditation, I’ll do 7 minutes. I lie down on the floor and play my favorite music and set a timer. There are lots of different ways to work with your breath. Stay tuned for another post where I outline some of my favorites.
