6 Tips To Detox All Year Round

We always think to start the detoxification process when we begin to get sick. But by doing some of these things regularly, we can have a healthier body and immune system with lower inflammation, which should help us repel illness around the clock. (Always consult your doctor or healthcare professional before adding something new to your routine.)

Detox Baths

I use Epsom salts, bentonite clay, baking soda, and essential oils (Frankincense, Lemon, Grapefruit, Lavender) in warm water and am sure to soak at least 20 minutes. The essential oils are soothing and therapeutic while the epsom salts, clay, and baking soda will pull toxins from your body.

Oil Pulling

Using coconut oil or sesame oil, swish about a tablespoon around in your mouth for 10-20 minutes in the morning before brushing your teeth or drinking water. This helps to pull toxins from the mouth and whiten teeth, improving gum health and bad breath too!

ACV mornings

Add two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar into your water for the day, or make a tonic for yourself in the morning with hot water, acv, cinnamon and lemon essential oils. The benefits to regular acv use are endless, but my favorite is how it helps to alkalize your system.

Dry Brushing

Congestion of the lymphatic system leads to inflammation and disease. Dry brushing helps stimulate the lymphatic system, eliminating cellular waste. Since skin is the biggest organ of our body, releasing toxins through the skin is a largely effective way to support your overall health.

Sweating

Another great way to detox, sweating through exercise, hot yoga, or a sauna helps to release heavy metals and environmental chemicals from the body. It helps with weight loss, stress and depression, increases circulation, and helps to fight inflammation and pain in the body. Try an infrared sauna!

Chlorella

One of my favorite superfoods, chlorella helps to remove heavy metals from your system while promoting cell regeneration. I add it into smoothies and meals, basically anywhere I can. See my recipe for green dip with chlorella here.
